Chicago, Ill. - The Providence College volleyball team lost to the DePaul Blue Demons on Oct. 22nd at DePaul University. The Friars lost in straight sets with scores of 21-25, 14-25 and 22-25. Providence falls to 13-13 (1-9) on the season while DePaul improves to 12-11 (6-5).
Senior Kayla Fitzgerald (Redlands, Calif.) led the Friars' attack against DePaul, recording 11 kills in the loss. Junior Chicyia Clark (Huntington Beach, Calif.) was the setter for the Friars, tallying 30 assists for Providence. Sophomore Kara Mason (Boca Raton, Fla.) led the Friars' defensive efforts against DePaul. Mason recorded a team high nine digs.
The Blue Demon attack was led by Caitlyn Coffey and Jasmine King. Coffey recorded a game high 14 kills while King added 12 kills. The attack was set by Colleen Smith who tallied a total of 36 assists in the Blue Demon victory. Defensively, DePaul was led by Haley Bueser with 16 digs.
The Friars return to action on Oct. 28 with an away match against St. John's.
