Three Friar Programs Earn NCAA APR Public Recognition Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Three Providence College athletic teams received Public Recognition Awards (May 20) as part of the NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) program.
The Friar squads to earn the honor include the women's swimming and diving team, the tennis team and the volleyball team. The women's swimming and diving and volleyball teams each earned the honor for a second consecutive year.
The teams were honored for finishing in the top-10 percent of their respective sports in the latest multi-year APR scores. The Friars have now had multiple teams honored in all 10 years that the NCAA has given out the Public Recognition Awards.
The APR is an annual scorecard of academic achievement calculated for all Division I sports teams nationally. The most recent APRs are multi-year rates based on scores from the 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-2013 and 2013-14 academic years.
