Selection Show Watch Party To Take Place At Alumni Hall

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- All Friar fans are invited to a Selection Show watch party at Alumni Hall on the campus of Providence College on Sunday evening as the men's basketball team learns where it will be headed in NCAA Tournament play. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and CBS will begin broadcasting the NCAA Selection Show at 6:00 p.m. The event is free-of-charge and open to the public.

The Friars will be making their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2004.

Last night (March 15), Providence was crowned the BIG EAST Tournament Champion by defeating No. 14 Creighton, 65-58, in the Championship Game at Madison Square Garden. SeniorBryce Cotton (Tucson, Ariz.) was named the BIG EAST Championship's Most Outstanding Player. Cotton recorded a team-high 23 points and added five rebounds.

It was Providence's second BIG EAST Tournament Championship in the 35-year history of the BIG EAST. The Friars also captured the title in 1994, when the Friars defeated Georgetown, 74-64, on March 13, 1994.
