PROVIDENCE, R.I. - On February 6, it was announced that Providence College men's basketball player, sophomore Kadeem Batts is nominated for play of the year. His one-handed dunk versus Louisville on January 10, at the Dukin' Donuts Center in Providence, R.I. is on a short-list of plays that will compete for the GEICO Play of the Year honor.
Each week for eight weeks, four top college basketball plays will be nominated as the GEICO Play of the Year. The eight finalists will compete in a week-long competition to determine the GEICO Play of the Year. The winner will be announced during the GEICO Best of College Basketball special that airs on CBS, March 25 at 1:00 p.m.
Batts' dunk is one of many impressive plays from the forward in the Friars' 90-59 victory over Louisville as he registered his first double-double of the season in the game with a career-high 27 points and 10 rebounds.
Other nominees from week six include dunks by Syracuse's C.J. Fair, Victor Rudd Jr. of South Florida and Oklahoma State's Markel Brown.
