PROVIDENCE, R.I. -

Tonight, the Providence College Friars celebrated their annual Late Night Madness in the newly renovated Mullaney Gymnasium in Alumni Hall. Over 3,000 students and fans attended this year's event. Performances from the cheerleaders and dance team, student contests and the Dunk Contest got everyone excited for the opening of the 2012-2013 men's and women's basketball season. This year's dunk contest featured junior Bryce Cotton (Tucson, Ariz.), sophomore Brice Kofane (Yaounde, Cameroon), freshman Josh Fortune (Hampton, Va.) and freshman Ricky Ledo (Providence, R.I.). Cotton slammed it home for the title as this year's dunk champion. This marks the third year that Cotton has won the dunk contest.

The Friars return to action next Saturday, October 20, for the Mal Brown Intrasquad Scrimmage following FanFest that begins at 10:00 a.m. The scrimmage is scheduled for noon.
