CINCINNATI, OHIO -- Junior forward Jill Camburn (Doylestown, Pa.) scored her third goal of the season to give the Providence College women's soccer team a 1-1 tie with the Cincinnati Bearcats on Friday, October 3 in Cincinnati. The Friars move to 5-3-2, (0-2-2 BIG EAST) while the Bearcats move to 5-5-1, (1-2-1 BIG EAST).
The Bearcats opened the scoring in the first half as Kristin May scored her second goal of the season in the 42nd minute. Friar sophomore goalkeeper Jill Schott (Windham, N.H.) made two of her nine saves during the first stanza.
Providence was able to tie the game in the second half as junior Nicole Benko (Valley Stream, N.Y.) fed Camburn with a pass, which she put in the back of the net to make the score 1-1. Camburn finished the day with two shots, both on goal for the Friars. The score remained 1-1 after the end of double overtime. The Friars were outshot by the Bearcats, 22-4, with Bearcat goalkeeper Andrea Kaminski making one save. UC also had the advantage in corner kicks, 9-0.
Providence will continue its five game road trip with a game at Louisville on Sunday, October 5 at 1:00 p.m.
