LOUISVILLE, KY. -- The Providence College women's soccer team tied the Louisville Cardinals, 1-1, on Sunday, October 5 at Cardinal Park in Louisville, Kentucky. The Friars move to 5-3-3, (0-2-2 BIG EAST) on the season while the Cardinals go to 4-4-3, (2-1-2 BIG EAST).

Providence opened the game with a goal in the 14th minute. Junior Jill Camburn (Doylestown, Pa.) headed a shot which was blocked by a Louisville defender. Senior Kelly Pettersen (Massapequa, N.Y.) retrieved the ball off the rebound and took a shot past Cardinal goalkeeper Katie Zoeller to give the Friars a 1-0 lead. In the 30th minute, the Cardinals were able to create an opportunity as they were awarded a penalty kick in the Friar zone. Midfielder Kate Cunningham took the shot but was stopped by sophomore goalkeeper Jill Schott (Windham, N.H.) to keep the Friar advantage. The Cardinals got on the board in the 38th minute as Giselle Mangal scored an unassisted goal off a rebound.

Neither team was able to put the ball in the net in the second half or either overtime, and the game ended with a 1-1 tie.

Schott tied her season and career high with 10 saves during the contest. Zoeller made three stops. Louisville outshot the Friars during the game, 25-13. The Cardinals also had the advantage in corner kicks, 11-2.

PC will conclude their road trip next weekend with two BIG EAST contests. The Friars will travel to Morgantown to take on West Virginia on Friday, October 10 at 7:00 p.m. They will then head to Pittsburgh to take on the Panthers on Sunday, October 12 at 1:00 p.m.
