The Providence College volleyball team opened the 2007 season with a victory over the Crusaders of Holy Cross on August 25, 2007. PC won by game scores of 30-26, 30-21 and 30-25. The Friars are now 1-0, while the Crusaders drop to 1-1.
The Friars (1-0) were led by senior co-captain Sarah Fleming (St. Paul, Minn.) who finished with a match-high 16 kills on 29 attempts. Junior setter Sara Sheehan (West Chester, Pa.) finished with 29 assists and a match-high four aces. Leading the way for the Crusaders (1-1) were freshman Chelsey O'Donnell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) with a match-high 30 assists and senior Christine Strawson (Torrington, Conn.) with a team-high 9 kills.
Providence is back in action on Thursday, August 30, when they travel to Savannah State.
