Washington, D.C. -- Senior Erin Mastrodonato (Rochester, N.Y.) tallied her first goal of the season as the Providence College women's soccer team (3-3-4, 0-3-1 BIG EAST) earned a 1-1 draw with Georgetown (3-5-4, 0-3-1 BIG EAST) on Friday afternoon. Both teams earned their first point in conference play after three defeats.
After a scoreless first half, Mastrodonato put the Friars on the board at the 58:43 mark when her shot from the top of the box found the upper right corner. The Hoyas answered in the 73rd minute when Chrissy Skogen scored on a header from eight yards out after receiving a cross from Sarah Fetters.
While Georgetown held a 24-8 advantage in shots, most were high or wide and the Hoyas held only a 6-4 edge in shots on goal. In net for Providence, junior Laura Elfers (Deer Park, N.Y.) made five saves, while Georgetown's Jade Higgins stopped two shots. Providence also held an edge in corner kicks, 5-2.
The Friars will continue BIG EAST play when they travel to face Villanova on Sunday, October 1. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
