PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College softball has announced the 2006 Friars schedule.

With the season-opener on March 5, Providence is slated to play 54 games this year including 22 BIG EAST contests. The Friars home-opener is set for March 30 against Quinnipiac, while the conference home-opener will take place against newcomer Louisville on April 8.

The Friars are coming off their second straight 33-win campaign, and return six starters including senior Michelle Willette (Moorpark, Calif.) who hit .302 with nine homeruns and a team-leading 34 RBIs.
