PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College volleyball freshman Amanda Little (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) earned Second Team Division I All-Independent honors Monday afternoon for her performance this season. Little totaled a single-season school-record 627 digs in her first year with the Friars. She also averaged 5.06 digs per game and was ranked among the nation's top-25 leaders in digs per game for most of the season.

The Empire State native played in all 124 games for the Friars and shattered the previous PC single-season record by almost 200 digs. She totaled 19 service aces, and posted a season-high 49 digs in the Friars 3-2 win over Sacred Heart on Sept. 17, 2005. Little also earned more Division I National Independent Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week honors (three) than any other student-athlete in the country.

In addition, senior setter Annie Fiorvanti (Northport, N.Y.) and classmate Allison Baker (Glastonbury, Conn.) each earned Honorable Mention awards. Fiorvanti ended her collegiate career fifth on PC's all-time assist list with 2,359.

With seven victories in 2005, Providence volleyball posted its highest win total since the 2000 campaign.
