Volleyball Loses, 3-0, To Texas-Pan American

EDINBURG, Texas - The Providence College volleyball team (0-3) was defeated by host Texas-Pan American (3-0) on Saturday afternoon in day two of the McAllen Holiday Inn UTPA Invitational. The Lady Broncs defeated Providence, 30-15, 30-14 and 30-18.

Providence senior captain Ayana Cadres (Los Angeles, Calif.) tallied a team-high six kills, while classmate Jennifer Backes (Seaford, N.Y.) added 10 digs. Winker Cruz led the Lady Broncs with 11 kills and 11 digs.

Providence volleyball returns to action later today, September 4, on the final day of the tournament. The Friars will take on Louisiana-Monroe at 6:00 p.m. On Tuesday, September 7, the Friars will host Holy Cross in their home-opener at 7:00 p.m. in Alumni Gym.
