Volleyball Drops Season-opener To Oklahoma, 3-0

EDINBURG, Texas - The Providence College volleyball team (0-1) was defeated by Oklahoma (1-0) on Friday, September 3 in Edinburg, Texas in straight games (3-0). The match marked PC's season-opener, and the opener of the McAllen Holiday Inn UTPA Invitational, held on the campus of Texas-Pan American. The Friars fell by scores of 30-19, 30-19, 30-17. Sophomore Kerry Schulz (Fairfield, Conn.) led the team with seven kills, while senior captain Ayana Cadres (Los Angeles, Calif.) added nine digs. Jennifer Adams led the Sooners with a game-high 15 kills, including no errors, while Joanna Schmitt totaled 13 digs. The Friars will take on Grambling in their second game of the day at 4:00 p.m. Stats for that match also will be posted when they become available. Providence volleyball returns to action on Saturday, September 4, on the final day of the tournament. The Friars will take on host Texas-Pan American at 2:00 p.m. and Louisiana-Monroe at 6:00 p.m.
