PROVIDENCE, R.I. (October 24, 2004) -- The Providence College women's soccer team was defeated, 1-0, by cross-town rivals Brown University on Wednesday, October 27 at PC's Glay Field.

The Brown Bears struck first as senior Megan Schreck fired a goal from five yards away past Ashley Fedyshyn (Lincroft, N.J.). Schreck's game-winning goal was assisted by Christine Serdjenian at the 4:36 mark.

Providence nearly tied the game in the first half when senior Lauren Ritchie fired a header from in close that hit the post.

Ritchie led with three shots in the game as the Friars held the shot advantage, 11-9.

Fedyshyn finished the game with four saves and the season with 73. Brown goalkeeper Hilary Wilson made fives saves and posted her fourth shutout victory of the season.

Providence completes the season with a 5-13 overall record and 2-7 in conference play, including two shutout victories over Marist (8/27) and Syracuse (10/22).
