PROVIDENCE, RI - The Pittsburgh Panthers defeated host Providence College, 3-0 (30-17, 30-13, 30-23), in volleyball action on Saturday, September 27 at Mullaney Gymnasium.
Providence (1-15) was led by Katie Fleming (Cary, N.C.). The sophomore notched 10 kills on 25 total attacks for a team-best .360 hitting percentage. Junior Jennifer Backes (Seaford, N.Y.) notched nine digs for the Friar defense. Sophomore Allison Baker (Glastonbury, Conn.) added eight digs.
Pittsburgh (10-3) was paced by Megan Miller, who had 19 kills on 24 total attacks for a .792 hitting percentage. April Puzauskas recorded 15 kills on 24 total attacks for a .700 hitting percentage. Sarah Rollman anchored the Panther defense with a match-high 13 digs.
The Friars return to action against West Virginia on Sunday, September 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Mullaney Gymnasium.
