PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Sophomore Katie Fleming (Cary, N.C.) hit for a double-double with 10 kills and a match-high 20 digs to lead the Providence College volleyball team to a 3-0 (30-25, 30-20, 32-30) shutout of Sacred Heart on Wednesday evening at Mullaney Gymnasium. The host Friars (2-16) snapped a three-match winless streak with the victory.
Providence sophomore Allison Baker (Glastonbury, Conn.) also notched a double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs. Junior Ayana Cadres (Los Angeles, Calif.) added 14 kills and six digs for the Friars.
Sacred Heart (1-17) was led by Meghan Eaton. She recorded a team-best nine kills and added 13 digs.
The Friars return to action on Friday, October 3 against Albany at 6:00 p.m. and Iona at 8:00 p.m. in the University at Albany Tournament.
