The Providence College women's soccer team defeated Holy Cross, 2-1, in double overtime on Tuesday, October 30 at PC's Glay Field.

Freshman midfielder Maura Robertson (Wellesley, Mass.) scored in the 109th minute off an assist from freshman midfielder BriAnne Bruni (Bristol, Conn.) to propel the Friars to their seventh win of the season.

Both teams battled through a scoreless first half, but the Friars struck first early in the second half. Freshman forward Shannon McMorrow (Boca Raton, Fla.) collected a loose ball in front of the goal and fired in her first collegiate goal. Robertson was credited with the assist. Holy Cross responded less than three minutes later as junior forward Lee Hummer (Lynnfield, Mass.) scored her fourth goal of the season in the 52nd minute.

The Friars outshot the Crusaders, 15-12. PC goalkeeper Caroline Haines (Stillwater, Minn.) made five saves in the win, while Christine Arsenault (North Easton, Mass.) made seven saves for Holy Cross.

With the win, PC finished the season with a 7-9-2 record, while Holy Cross dropped to 6-8-2.
