MIAMI, Fla. -- The University of Miami defeated the Providence College Friars, 1-0, in BIG EAST women's soccer action on September 10, 2000 at Miami, Fla.
Miami sophomore midfielder Laura West (Allen, Texas) netted what proved to be the game winner at 65:34. West recorded the game's lone goal when she headed in a pass from sophomore back Ashley West (Allen, Texas) to beat PC freshman goalkeeper Caroline Haines (Stillwater, Minn.)
In goal, PC's Haines made seven stops while Miami's Elizabeth Swinson (Boca Raton, Fla.) made three saves to record her second shutout of the season.
With the loss, PC's record falls to 2-4-0 overall and 0-2-0 in BIG EAST Northeast Divisional play. Miami improves its record to 4-1-0 overall and 1-0-0 in conference play.
The Friars return to action on Friday, September 15, when they host the University of New Hampshire at 4:00 p.m.
