SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Providence College volleyball team was defeated at Notre Dame, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon in a BIG EAST Conference volleyball match.
The Irish (21-5 overall/10-0 in BIG EAST) won the match by scores of 15-5, 15-10 and 15-9 over the Friars (16-14 overall/2-8 BIG EAST).
Providence was led by junior outside hitters Sarah Katinger (Stratford, Conn.) and Annie Cella (Burr Ridge, Ill.) tied for game-high honors with 16 kills in the defeat. Sophomore setter Susan Fanning (East Amherst, N.Y.) added a game-high 39 set assists.
Notre Dame was led by Marcie Bomhack, who had 14 kills, five defensive digs and a block, and teammate Christi Girton, who added 10 kills, six digs, and three blocks, kept UND perfect in BIG EAST volleyball play.
The Friars return to action on Saturday, November 11th when they host the Boston College Eagles at 7:30 p.m. in PC's Alumni Hall.
