Men’s Golf Headed To UConn Invitational

The Friars will play three rounds at GreatHorse in Hampden, Mass., from Sept. 27-29.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's golf team returns on Sunday, Sept. 27 through Tuesday, Sept. 29 at the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse in Hampden, Mass.

The three round tournament will play out over Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The field includes 13 others schools including Lafayette, Fairleigh Dickinson, Fairfield, Siena, Sacred Heart, Holy Cross, Boston College, St. John's, Rhode Island, UConn, Villanova, Bryant and Merrimack.
At last year's UConn Invitational, Providence finished 10th in the 15-team field with a score of 902 (+38). Sophomore Callan Fahey (Wheaton, Ill.) led the Friars, posting a 221 (+5) to tie for 23rd.
GreatHorse was formerly known as Hampden Country Club before being purchased in January 2012 and reopening in 2015. Redesigned by New England golf course architect Brian Silva, the par-72 layout stretches 7,093 yards. The 2026 UConn Invitational will be the eighth time the tournament has been held.
Providence completed the Ryan T. Lee Memorial on Sunday, Sept. 20 at Ledgemont Country Club in Seekonk, Mass. The Friars finished 12th with a team score of 882 (+30). Freshman Zac Georgantas (Foxborough, Mass.) led Providence, tying for 31st at 219 (+6).
In the fall opener, the Friars played at the Doc Gimmler Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 12 at Bethpage State Park Red Course in Bethpage, N.Y. Sunday's third and final round was canceled due to weather. The Friars placed 12th overall with a team score of 578 (+18). Fahey led Providence, tying for 21st at 142 (+2) while totaling six birdies across 36 holes. Senior Evan Buddenhagen (Gloucester, Mass.), who played as an individual, also tied for 21st, matching his career-best result.
Providence's lineup is: The Friars will return to action at The Scrappy at Pinetree at Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw, Ga. from Monday, Oct. 12 to Tuesday, Oct. 13.
