Men’s Golf Opens 2026 Fall Schedule At Doc Gimmler Invitational

The Friars will play three rounds at Bethpage State Park Red Course from Sept. 12-13.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's golf team is set to open the 2026-27 season on Saturday, Sept. 12 and Sunday, Sept. 13, at the Doc Gimmler Invitational at Bethpage State Park Red Course in Bethpage, N.Y.

Play begins Saturday morning with the opening round starting at 7:30 a.m., followed by the second round in the afternoon. The third and final round will be played Sunday. The field includes 13 other schools:
Lafayette College, Yale University, Iona University, Columbia University, Long Island University, Boston College, Towson University, St. John's University, University of Rhode Island, Hofstra University, UConn, Bryant University and Lehigh University.
Bethpage Golf Course, located in suburban Long Island, N.Y., features five 18-hole regulation golf courses, including the world-renowned Bethpage Black, home to the 2025 Ryder Cup. Bethpage Red Course is considered by most to be the toughest of the park's non-Black tracks. The course is a par 70 and measures 7,092 yards.
This season's roster for the Friars includes two seniors, one junior, three sophomores and two freshmen, with four returners and four newcomers.
Providence's lineup for this weekend is:
The 2025-26 season marked the return of men's golf as a varsity program at Providence College for the first time in 23 years. Providence recorded its best team finish of the season with a fifth-place showing at the Bash in the Boro at Georgia Southern University Golf Course. At the BIG EAST Championships, the first for the Friars since 2000, senior Campbell Skelly (Charleston, S.C.) placed ninth overall, the first top-10 finish for a Friar at the BIG EAST Championships since 1994.
The Friars will return to action at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial on Sept. 19-20 at Ledgemont Country Club in Seekonk, Mass. The following weekend, Providence will play in the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse in Hampden, Mass., from Sept. 27-29.
Providence will have two weeks off before traveling to Kennesaw, Ga., to compete at The Scrappy at Pinetree at Pinetree Country Club from Oct. 12-13. To conclude the fall season, the Friars will play in the Xavier Invitational at Maketewah Country Club in Cincinnati, Ohio, from Oct. 19-20.
