No. 7 seed Friars will face the No. 10 seed Blue Demons in the First Round on Friday, March 6 at 1:30 p.m.

FRIARS GEAR UP FOR BIG EAST TOURNAMENT... Providence College will enter the BIG EAST Tournament as the No. 7 seed and will face No. 10 seed DePaul on Friday, March 6 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. Tipoff is slated for 1:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on Peacock.

SABOU GUEYE NAMED TO ALL-BIG EAST FIRST TEAM... Providence College graduate student guard Sabou Gueye was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team on March 5. Gueye, a unanimous selection, is the 11th player in program history to earn All-BIG EAST First Team honors. She is just the second Friar in the last 32 seasons to earn First Team accolades and the first since Chelsea Marandola in 2010. In her first year with the Friars, Gueye averaged a team-best 15.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 49-percent from the field (195-399) and 76-percent from the free-throw line (70-92). She also contributed 2.0 assists and 1.8 steals per game through 31 regular-season contests. During BIG EAST action, Gueye started all 20 games and averaged 15.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game. During the 2025-26 campaign, Gueye was an eight-time BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll selection.

PROVIDENCE ALL-TIME AT THE BIG EAST TOURNAMENT... The Friars have compiled a 23-37 all-time record at the BIG EAST Tournament.

FRIARS ALL-TIME AS THE NO. 7 SEED... Providence is 5-4 all-time as the No. 7 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament, including a 3-1 mark in the First Round. The Friars entered the tournament as the No. 7 seed in 2025 (0-1), 2021 (1-1), 2019 (1-1) and 1993 (3-1). In 2021 and 2019, the Friars were eliminated in the Quarterfinals. In 1993, the Friars advanced all the way to the Championship Game, where they were defeated by top-seeded Miami (77-56).

FRIARS CLAIM NO. 7 SEED FOR SECOND-STRAIGHT SEASON... Providence has earned the No. 7 seed for the second-consecutive season. Last year, No. 7 Providence was defeated by No. 10 seed Georgetown, 58-56, on March 7, 2025.  

LAST TOURNAMENT VICTORY... The last time Providence College won a BIG EAST Tournament game was on March 8, 2024. The No. 9 seed Friars defeated the No. 8 seed Butler Bulldogs, 75-60, in the First Round. 

BIG EAST PRESEASON POLL... The Friars were picked to finish 10th in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll, released on Oct. 21 at Madison Square Garden. Providence finished seventh in the final standings for the second-straight year with a 7-13 record during BIG EAST regular-season play (14-17 overall).

FRIARS AND BLUE DEMONS ALL-TIME... Providence and DePaul have met 39 times. DePaul leads the all-time series, 31-8. The Friars have won four of the last six meetings, including three-straight heading into Friday's match-up in the BIG EAST Tournament. The current three-game win streak vs. DePaul is the longest win streak in the series for Providence.

2025-26 SEASON SERIES... Providence College swept the 2025-26 season series vs. DePaul, 2-0. It marked Providence's first sweep of DePaul in regular-season BIG EAST play all-time. The Friars rallied from a 19-point deficit to defeat DePaul, 69-59, on Jan. 4 at Wintrust Arena. It marked the Friars' first win over DePaul in Chicago during the all-time series. On Feb. 18, Providence defeated DePaul, 66-60, at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. to complete season sweep. In two games vs. DePaul, Orlagh Gormley averaged a team-best 16.5 points, 3.5 assists and 7.0 steals per game, while shooting 58-percent from the field (11-19) and 85-percent from the foul line (11-13). Sabou Gueye chipped in 16.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.0 steal per game. Teneisia Brown averaged 13.0 points and a team-best 7.0 rebounds to go along with 2.0 assists and 1.0 block per game.

FRIARS AND BLUE DEMONS IN THE BIG EAST TOURNAMENT... DePaul has posted a 3-0 record vs. Providence in the BIG EAST Tournament. Two of the three meetings took place in Chicago, Ill. The most recent meeting dates back to March 3, 2023 at Mohegan Sun Arena.  The No. 7 Blue Demons defeated the No. 10 Friars, 67-54, in the First Round.

FRIARS POST LARGEST COMEBACK VICTORY SINCE 2017... The Friars overcame a 19-point deficit to defeat DePaul, 69-59, on Jan. 4 in Chicago, Ill. It marked the largest comeback victory since Nov. 11, 2017, when Providence rallied from a 20-point deficit to defeat Northeastern, 98-95, in overtime.

LARGEST COMEBACK IN BIG EAST PLAY SINCE 2013... The Friars overcame a 19-point deficit to defeat DePaul, 69-59, on Jan. 4. It marked the largest comeback win in BIG EAST play since Jan. 23, 2013. On that day, the Friars rallied from a 21-point deficit to defeat Villanova, 65-60, in overtime.

MOST STEALS BY A FRIAR IN A SINGLE GAME SINCE 2008-09 SEASON... Sophomore Orlagh Gormley recorded a career-high nine steals in the Friars' game against DePaul (Jan. 4). Her nine steals are the most by a Friar since Sarah Beal collected 10 against Bryant on Dec. 12, 2009. 

SABOU GUEYE NAMED TO BIG EAST WEEKLY HONOR ROLL FOR AN EIGHTH TIME... Sabou Gueye was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, March 2.  It marked her eighth appearance of the season on the league's weekly awards list. The previous week, Gueye averaged 16.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.0 blocked shots and 2.0 steals in two games. She shot 45.2-percent from the field (14-31) and 71.4-percent from the free throw line (5-7). On March 1, Gueye recorded 20 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots against Marquette. She is just the third BIG EAST player in the last 15 years to record at lease 20 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots in a BIG EAST game. She joined Aneesah Morrow (31 points, 22 rebounds, five assists and three blocks vs. Providence on Feb. 18, 2023) and Maddy Siegrist (31 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four blocks vs. DePaul on Jan. 4, 2021).

14 & 7... Heading into the BIG EAST Tournament, the Friars' 14 wins overall and seven victories in BIG EAST play are the most since 2018-19. That year, Providence finished the year 19-16 overall and 8-10 in BIG EAST play.

BUILDING BLOCKS... Under the direction of Head Coach Erin Batth, the Friars have recorded 6+ wins in BIG EAST play during each of her three seasons. Prior to her arrival in 2023-24, Providence claimed six-or-more wins in league play just five times since 2001-02.

HOME-SWEET-HOME... During the regular-season, the Friars recorded 11 of their 14 victories at home in Alumni Hall, including five of their seven BIG EAST wins. When playing away from home, the Friars posted a 3-10 record [2-9 in true road games; 1-1 at a neutral site]. Providence's true road wins have came against DePaul (Jan. 4) and Georgetown (Feb. 14). 

FOUR-GAME WIN STREAK... During the late stages of the regular-season, Providence recorded a four-game win streak in BIG EAST Conference play, which came to a halt at top-ranked UConn on Feb. 22. Providence posted wins over Xavier (66-50), Butler (73-64), Georgetown (59-54) and DePaul (66-60). The last time Providence won four-consecutive BIG EAST regular-season games dates back to the 1995-96 campaign. 

65+... Providence is 9-2 when scoring 65+ points, including a 4-0 mark when scoring 70+. PC suffered its only two losses of the season when scoring 65-or-more points on Jan. 27 at Villanova (83-68) and March 1 vs. Marquette (69-65). 

ONE OF THE BEST IN THE BIG EAST... Grad transfer Sabou Gueye is an eight-time BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll selection this season. Through 31 games overall, she ranks sixth in the BIG EAST in scoring (15.0 ppg), ninth in rebounding (6.0 rpg), fourth in field-goal percentage (.489), 11th in steals (1.8 spg) and ninth in blocked shots (0.90 bpg). In BIG EAST Conference regular-season action, she ranks fourth in scoring (15.9 ppg), seventh in rebounding (6.5 rpg), third in field-goal percentage (.484), 10th in steals (1.9 spg), tied for 10th in blocked shots (0.90 bpg), third in offensive rebounding (2.35 orpg) and tied for ninth in defensive boards (4.15 drpg).

BEYOND THE ARC... Payton Dunbar has hit a team-best 51 three-pointers this season (1.65 per game). She is tied for 18th in single-season three-point field goals made at Providence. The single-season record (93) was set by Jovana Nogic in 2018-19.

FLOOR GENERAL... Sophomore Orlagh Gormley has returned to the court as the Friars' floor general after sitting out the final 22 games of her freshman campaign with an injury. She impacts both ends of the floor, leading the team in assists (3.9 apg) and steals (2.5 spg), while contributing 8.2 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. Gormley has recorded 3+ assists in 25 of the 30 games she has played, including 11 games with five-or-more assists. She has dished 5+ assists in seven of the 19 league games she has played and ranks seventh among BIG EAST players in assists per game during conference play (3.84 apg), fifth in assist turnover ratio (1.83) and third in steals (2.74 spg).

100+ ASSISTS IN A SINGLE SEASON... Orlagh Gormley has dished 117 assists this season (3.9 apg). She is just the sixth Friar in the last 25 years to record 100+ assists in a single season and the six players have combined to do it eight times. In the last 10 years, only Janai Crooms has achieved the feat.

ON THE DEFENSIVE... Orlagh Gormley has collected 72 steals through 30 games, marking the most by a Friar since 2012-13. That year, Symone Roberts recorded 98 thefts. Gormley's 72 steals are tied for 10th in program history for a single season and the second most by a sophomore all-time. She has picked up 3+ steals in 12 games this season, including a career-high nine vs. DePaul.

TENEISIA BROWN INCHING CLOSER TO 1,500 CAREER POINTS... Graduate transfer Teneisia Brown is inching closer to the 1,500-career points milestone. Brown arrived at Providence for her final season after stops at Merrimack (2020-22) and Fairleigh Dickinson (2023-25). She averaged double figures in the scoring column during each of her last three seasons of college basketball and currently ranks second on the team in scoring for the Friars through 31 games (10.0 ppg). Brown has a career scoring total of 1,496 points heading into the BIG EAST Tournament and needs four points to reach the milestone.

1,000-POINT MILESTONE... Graduate transfer Sabou Gueye is 17 points shy of the 1,000-point milestone. In her lone season with the Friars, she has recorded a single-season career-best of 466 points. In her previous three seasons at New Mexico State and Florida A&M, she combined for 517 points.

20-POINT GAMES... Sabou Gueye leads the Friars and ranks fifth in the BIG EAST with eight 20-point games. Gueye recorded just two 20-point games in the last three seasons. Six of Gueye's 20-point games have come during BIG EAST play. Three other players on the roster have scored 20 points: Payton Dunbar 22 vs. Boston College, Orlagh Gormley 21 vs. Creighton and Teneisia Brown tallied 24 points vs. Marquette.

TENEISIA BROWN RANKS 19TH AMONG ACTIVE NCAA DIVISION I PLAYERS CAREER REBOUND... Teneisia Brown eclipsed 900 career rebounds in the Friars' game against St. John's on Jan. 27. In 133 career games, Brown has hauled in 947 boards for an average of 7.1 rebounds per game. Brown ranks 19th among active NCAA Division I players in career rebounds. This season, Brown is averaging 5.9 boards per game, which ranks 10th in the BIG EAST.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE TROUBLE... Teneisia Brown recorded her team-best third double-double on Feb. 18 vs. DePaul. She finished the game with 14 points and 12 boards. Two of her three double-doubles have come during BIG EAST play. Brown also posted double-doubles against Central Connecticut (12 pts/14 rebs) and St. John's (11 pts/10 rebs). Sabou Gueye is second on the team in double-doubles. Gueye tallied 16 points and 12 rebounds vs. Boston College and 16 points and 12 rebounds vs. Xavier. 

TENEISIA BROWN NETS FIRST 20+ POINT GAME AS A FRIAR... Teneisia Brown eclipsed the 20-point plateau for the first time as a Friar on Feb. 4 at Marquette. She scored 24 points on 11-21 shooting from the field. Brown became the first Friar to score 20+ points off the bench since Nariah Scott tallied 20 points vs. Georgetown on Feb. 21, 2023. Prior to arriving at Providence, Brown recorded 20+ points in 10 games.

20/20... Sabou Gueye (22 points) and Orlagh Gormley (21 points) each eclipsed the 20-point mark in the Friars' first meeting against Creighton on Jan. 17. The last time two Friars scored 20-points in the same BIG EAST game dates back to Jan. 24, 2024 against Seton Hall. Grace Efosa scored 29 points and Marta Morales Romero added 26 in a 82-76 victory in overtime. Additionally, the last time two Friars scored 20-points in a BIG EAST game of regulation length was on Jan. 27, 2017 in a 66-64 win over Marquette. Jovana Nogic scored 27 points and Sarah Beal chipped in 25.

DOUBLE DIGITS... Sabou Gueye leads the Friars in double-digit scoring games (23) and 20-point games (eight). Nine other players on the roster have reached double figures, including Teneisia Brown (18), Orlagh Gormley (11), Payton Dunbar (10), Ashley Dinges (four), Sophi Hall (four), Princess Moody (two), Nalani Kaysia (one), Riley Hamburger (one), Sami Mancini (one) and Audrey Shields (one). 

TRACY LIS '92 TO BE HONORED AS PART OF THE THIRD ANNUAL BIG EAST BASKETBALL LEGENDS RECOGNITION PROGRAM... Former Friar Great Tracy Lis '92 will be honored at the BIG EAST Tournament on March 7 as part of the third annual BIG EAST Legends Recognition Program. Previous Providence College honorees include Britt King in 2025 and Kathy Finn Hill in 2024. Lis is one of the greatest players ever to wear a Friar uniform. She is the all-time leading scorer at Providence and ranks fifth all-time in scoring in BIG EAST action (1,296). During her career from 1988-92, she set 14 records, and is the only player to surpass the 2,000-point plateau at PC. In 1990, she led the Friars to the Sweet 16. In 1991, she helped propel the program to its highest ranking in the AP Poll (15th). She achieved a Providence College and BIG EAST Conference first when she was named Sports Illustrated Player of the Week, twice, during the 1991 season. Lis was a two-time First-Team All-BIG EAST selection, and also received the BIG EAST Special Achievement Award and was named ECAC Player of the Year (1992).  Lis played professionally for the New England Blizzard (ABL). Lis ranks first in career scoring (2,534 points) and steals (327) and fifth all-time in rebounding (821). Lis was inducted into the Providence College Athletics Hall of Fame in 2003 and her jersey was retired in January 2014.  Lis also was named to the BIG EAST Conference Silver Anniversary Team.

WHAT'S NEXT... The winner of Friday's First Round game between No. 7 Providence and No. 10 DePaul will advance to the Quarterfinal Round to face No. 2 seed Villanova at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7.
