PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College sophomore
Logan Sawyer (Orangeville, Ont.) was named Boston Children's Hospital Hockey East Player of the Week on Monday (Jan. 19). Sawyer earns his third-career weekly accolade after being a two-time Rookie of the Week selection in 2024-25.
Sawyer registered both game-winning goals last weekend as the Friars swept Boston College in a weekend series for the first time since 2002. Sawyer scored the winner in overtime on Friday night at Conte Forum before netting the eventual game-winner on Saturday night in Providence's 4-3 win. This season, Sawyer ranks second on the team in scoring with 18 points and is tied for the team lead in goals with nine.
The No. 11 Friars will battle No. 18 Boston University in a home-and-home series beginning Friday night (Jan. 23) at Schneider Arena beginning at 7 p.m.
