PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College men's hockey has added Beau Jelsma (Brownsville, Ont.) to the 2025-26 roster after signing an athletic aid agreement to attend the College. Jelsma has spent the previous four seasons with the Barrie Colts of the OHL, serving as captain the last two seasons. He will be the third CHL player to join the Friars for the 2025-26 season – Donovan McCoy (Sudbury, OHL) and Jonathan Fauchon (Rimouski, QMJHL).
The 5-foot-10, 181-pound forward amassed 241 points on 115 goals and 126 assists in 259 career OHL regular season games for the Colts. In 34 career playoff games, he totaled 33 points on 16 goals and 17 assists. Jelsma tallied career-highs in goals (37), assists (44) and points (81) during the 2023-24 campaign. In 2024-25, he finished the regular season with 20 goals and 32 assists while going 57.1% at the faceoff dot.
Jelsma signed an amateur try-out (ATO) with the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Penguins of the AHL at the end of the 2023-24 season, appearing in four games and recording three points on a goal and two assists. He attended Pittsburgh Penguins Training Camp in 2024 before returning to Barrie for the 2024-25 season. Jelsma also participated in the inaugural Connor McDavid OHL Top Prospects Game this past January.
