Grace Efosa Nets 27 Points To Help Providence Defeat DePaul, 76-63

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's basketball team led wire-to-wire in a 76-63 victory over DePaul on Feb. 6 at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. The Friars improved to 10-15 overall (3-9 BIG EAST), while DePaul dropped to 11-14 overall (6-6 BIG EAST). Grace Efosa matched her season high in scoring with 27 points and Olivia Olsen recorded her third-straight double-double on 18 points and 15 boards.
1ST QUARTER:
• Providence started the game with a 8-0 spurt before DePaul got on the board with 6:58 left in the quarter (8-2).
• A 10-2 run by the Friars late in the quarter provided a 12-point lead (20-8) with 23-seconds to play.
• The Friars held the Blue Demons scoreless for nearly five minutes before Jorie Allen converted one of two free throw attempts with three-second left.
• Providence led 20-9 at the intermission.
2ND QUARTER:
• The Friars opened the second quarter with a 9-3 scoring edge to force a DePaul timeout with 6:22 on the clock (29-12).
• DePaul scored seven-straight points out of the timeout to cut the deficit to 29-19 at the 5:04 mark.
• Efosa and Marta Morales Romero scored back-to-back buckets to halt DePaul's run, getting both players into double figures with 10 points each (33-19).
• The Friars went into halftime with a 41-29 lead and Efosa paced all scorers with 13 points.
3RD QUARTER:
• DePaul opened the third with a 6-0 scoring run to get within 41-35 and forced a Providence timeout with 7:53 on the clock.
• Olsen sank a pair of free throws on the Friars' first possession out of the break to halt the Blue Demons' run (43-35).
• Olsen scored seven-straight points for the Friars to push Providence's lead back to double figures (48-38) with 4:56 on the clock.
• The Friars led by 11 (52-41) with 2:51 to play on the clock, but DePaul finished the quarter with a 6-3 scoring advantage to make it a 55-47 game at the intermission.
4TH QUARTER:
• DePaul started the fourth with a 5-0 spurt to get within 55-52 before Olsen got on the board with an offensive rebound and put-back at the 8:42 mark (57-52).
• It sparked 10-2 scoring drive by the Friars to extend their lead to 67-56 (5:19).
• Providence used a 7-0 run late in the quarter to make it a 15-point game (76-61) with 1:14 to play.
• Efosa scored 14 of her 27 points in the fourth quarter.

• Efosa matched her season high in scoring with 27 points, marking her sixth 20+ point game of the season and 10th of her career. She also added eight rebounds and two assists.
• Efosa scored 14 of her 27 points in the fourth quarter.
• Olsen recorded her third-consecutive double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. It marked her eighth double-double of the season and 24th of her career.
• It marks the first time in Olsen's career that she has recorded a double-double in three-straight BIG EAST games.

• Providence finished the game 45.3-percent from the field (24-53) and converted 22-31 free throw attempts (.710).
• The Friars' 76 points are the most the team has scored in BIG EAST play this season.
