Volleyball Prepares To Face Butler and Xavier On The Road

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College volleyball team is on the road for two BIG EAST matches this weekend. The Friars will play Butler on Friday, Oct. 10 at 7:00 p.m. in Indianapolis, Ind. Providence will close the weekend against Xavier on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 3:30 p.m. in Cincinnati, Ohio.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS… The Friars enter the weekend with a 10-7 record and 1-3 mark in the BIG EAST. Most recently, the Friars fell to St. John's (3-1) and defeated Seton Hall (3-2).

As a team, Providence averages 2.34 assists per set, which ranks eighth in NCAA Division I.

Sophomore Sophia Adkins (Cincinnati, Ohio) leads the Friars' offense with 241 kills. She ranks fourth in the BIG EAST with an average of 3.89 per set.

Junior Lyric Berry (Wylie, Texas) ranks first in the BIG EAST and 27th in NCAA Division I in blocks per set (1.42). Overall, she has recorded 88 blocks on the year, including 18 solo blocks and 70 block assists.

Redshirt senior Hadley Pride (Nashville, Tenn.) averages 5.53 digs per set, which ranks first in the BIG EAST and second in NCAA Division I. Pride has recorded 343 digs through 17 matches.

Sophomore Audrey Kocon ranks second in the BIG EAST in aces per set and 18^th in NCAA Division I, averaging 0.55. She has recorded 117 kills, 236 assists, 30 aces, 133 digs and 42 blocks.

SCOUTING BUTLER… The Bulldogs enter the weekend with a 7-10 record and are 0-4 in the BIG EAST. Most recently, Butler fell to Villanova (3-0) and Georgetown (3-1).

Sophomore Alaleh Tolliver leads the team in kills, with 242. She ranks third in the BIG EAST in kills per set (2.97).

Junior Kaylee Finnegan has recorded 581 assists and ranks third in the BIG EAST with an average of 9.85 assists per set.

Sophomore Lauren Evans averages 4.38 digs per set, which ranks third in the BIG EAST. She has recorded 261 digs overall.

SCOUTING XAVIER… The Musketeers enter the weekend with a 14-2 record and 3-1 mark in the BIG EAST. Most recently, Xavier defeated Georgetown (3-2) and Villanova (3-2).

Redshirt senior Emma Grace was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. She leads the team in kills (210) and ranks eighth in the BIG EAST with 3.56 kills per set.

Freshman McKinley Boehm was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. She has recorded 96 kills and holds a .337 hitting percentage, which ranks seventh in the BIG EAST.

Redshirt sophomore Margo Kemp was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. She leads the team in blocks with 69 and averages 1.13 per set, which ranks third in the BIG EAST. Kemp has notched 123 kills with a .320 hitting percentage.

WHAT'S NEXT: The Providence College volleyball team returns home to Alumni Hall next weekend for more BIG EAST action. The Friars face Villanova on Friday, Oct. 17 at 5:00 p.m. Providence will then play Georgetown on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 4:00 p.m.
