INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.- The Providence College volleyball team (10-8, 1-4 BIG EAST) fell to Butler University (8-10, 1-4 BIG EAST) in three sets (3-0) on Friday, Oct. 10 in BIG EAST action.


FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS: Butler earned a 27-25 victory in the first set.

  • The two teams went back-and-forth, tying the set at 13-13.
  • A kill by junior Macy Taylor (Rowlett, Texas) gave Providence a 20-18 advantage.
  • Butler tied the set again at 24-24.
  • The Bulldogs went on a 3-1 run to earn a 27-25 victory in the first set.


SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS: Butler won the second set 25-18.

  • Providence came out strong with a 10-8 lead.
  • The Bulldogs tied the set at 11-11, forcing a Friars timeout.
  • Providence took another timeout after a 7-2 run by Butler (18-13).
  • Butler maintained its lead and won the second set 25-18.
  • Taylor led the Friars with 14 kills through set two.


THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS: Butler won the set, and the match 3-0.

  • The teams played evenly, tying the set at 9-9.
  • Butler took the lead at 13-10, forcing a Providence timeout.
  • The Bulldogs extended the lead to 18-12, prompting another Friar timeout.
  • Butler maintained its lead to win the set, 25-22 and the match, 3-0.


MATCH NOTES:

  • Taylor led the team with 15 kills.
  • Freshman Kaia Easterbrook (Canton, Ga.) tallied five blocks.
  • Redshirt senior Hadley Pride (Nashville, Tenn.) led the defense with 24 digs.
  • The Friars notched 31 kills, eight blocks and 55 digs.


WHAT'S NEXT: The Friars return to action on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 3:30 p.m. in Cincinnati, Ohio against Xavier.
