PROVIDENCE R.I. – It was announced today (Oct. 6) that senior
Bruno Rosa (Cascais, Portugal) of the Providence College men's soccer team was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week. Rosa registered five points in the Friars' lone game last week.
Rosa was involved in three of the five Friar goals against Villanova on Friday, Oct. 3. Rosa tallied an assist in the first half on the Friars' second goal when he slid a pass by the Villanova defense to
Ian Abbey (Elmer, N.J.) who connected on the strike. In the second half, Rosa scored Providence's third goal when he connected a header on a pass from Abbey. Minutes later, Rosa scored again when he converted a highlight-reel bicycle kick to give the Friars the 4-0 lead.
This marks Roa's second BIG EAST recognition of the season after being named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.
