Women's Hoops Defeats Franklin Pierce In An Exhibition Game, 71-38

Payton Dunbar and Sabou Gueye each scored 12 points.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's basketball team defeated Franklin Pierce, 71-38, on Oct. 29 in an exhibition game at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. Payton Dunbar and Sabou Gueye each scored 12 points to lead the offense.
 
1ST QUARTER:
• After the opening 10 minutes of play, the game was tied, 16-16.
• Dunbar paced the offense in the first quarter with five points and Gueye added four points and three assists.
 
2ND QUARTER:
• Providence took a 32-28 lead into halftime.
• Dunbar paced the scoring with seven points.
Teneisia Brown added five points, four rebounds and two assists.
• The Friars held a 23-12 advantage in rebounding at the half.
 
3RD QUARTER:
• The Friars used an 11-0 run during a span of 4:37 to extend their lead to double-digits at the media timeout (43-30).
• Providence outscored Franklin Pierce, 20-7, in the quarter overall to take a 52-35 lead into the fourth.
 
4TH QUARTER:
• The Friars held Franklin Pierce scoreless in the fourth until a made free throw with 2:14 left on the clock. During the Raven's drought, Providence scored 16 unanswered points (68-36).
• Providence outscored FPC, 19-3, in the fourth to make the final score 71-38.
 
NOTES / HIGHLIGHTS:
• Dunbar finished the night with 12 points, three rebounds and two assists.
• Gueye also finished in double figures with 12 points and added three rebounds and four assists.
Ashley Dinges provided a burst to the line-up and recorded nine points, a team-high six boards and two blocks.
• Brown added contributed seven points, four rebounds and a team-best five assists. She played 23 minutes and did not commit a turnover.
• The Friars' defense held the Ravens to 10 points in the second half.
• Providence out-rebounded Franklin Pierce, 40-26. Seventeen of the Friars' rebounds came off the offensive glass.
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
• The Providence College women's basketball team officially opens the 2025-26 season on Tuesday, Nov. 4 against Howard University. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m. at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
