Dartmouth, N.H. – Providence College volleyball defeated Siena in three sets at the Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, September 21 in Dartmouth, N.H. Providence improved to 6-4 overall on the season, while the Saints dropped to 1-9.
FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS: Providence earned a 25-15 victory in the first set.
- Siena and Providence exchanged kills to reach a 5-5 tie early in the set.
- The Saints went on a 5-2 run to take a 10-7 lead.
- Later in the set, the Friars used a 9-1 run to take a 22-15 lead, and forced Siena to take a timeout.
- Providence maintained its lead and claimed a 25-15 victory.
SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS: The Friars won the second set, 25-23.
- Siena jumped out to a 6-1 lead and forced Providence to take a timeout.
- The Friars answered with an 11-5 run to take a one-point lead coming out of their timeout (12-11).
- Providence extended its lead to 18-15.
- The Saints used a 5-3 run to get within 21-20.
- The Friars were able to maintain their lead and win the set 25-23.
THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS: Providence took the third set, 25-23.
- The Friars got out to a 5-2 lead.
- The Saints went on a 10-5 run to take the lead (12-10).
- The two teams went back-and-forth to tie the set 16-16.
- Providence went on a 3-0 run to take a 19-16 advantage, forcing Siena to take a timeout.
- Siena chipped away to narrow Providence's lead to 24-23.
- The Friars help their lead and won the set 25-23.
MATCH NOTES:
- Shaliyah Rhoden led the Friars' offense with nine kills.
- Jiji Lykins recorded 12 digs for the Friars.
- Shea Dupuis led Providence with three service aces.
- The Friars notched 36 kills, 37 digs, seven aces and seven blocks.
