Volleyball Hits The Road For The Dartmouth Invitational

The Friars will kick off the tournament against Dartmouth on Sept. 20 at 7:00 p.m.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College volleyball team will travel to Dartmouth, N.H. to compete in the Dartmouth Invitational. The Friars open the tournament on Sept. 20 at 7:00 p.m. against Dartmouth College. On Sept. 21 Providence will play Siena College at 4:00 p.m. The Friars will face Quinnipiac University at 1:00 p.m. on Sept. 22.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS… The Friars enter the tournament with a 5-3 record. Most recently, Providence won the19th Annual Friar Classic, where it compiled a 3-0 record with wins over Saint Peter's (3-1), Columbia (3-1) and Stonehill (3-1). Kayla Grant (Rowlett, Texas) was named tournament MVP and Jiji Lykins (Coral Springs, Fla.) and Miller McDonald (Dallas, Texas) earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
 
Grant leads the team with 32 blocks and has recorded 67 kills for the Friars. The senior currently ranks first in the BIG EAST with a .478 hitting percentage.
 
Lykins leads the team in digs (116), averaging 3.62 digs per set, which ranks seventh in the BIG EAST.
 
Shaliyah Rhoden (Rowlett, Texas) leads the Friars' offense in kills, with 86. This past weekend she notched 46 kills through three matches.
 
Audrey Kocon (Shoreview, Minn.) leads the team with 17 service aces. She has notched 54 kills, 77 digs, 135 assists and 25 blocks.
 
SCOUTING DARTMOUTH… Dartmouth enters the weekend with a record of 4-2. Last weekend Dartmouth played at the UConn invitational, where it went 2-1, defeating Albany (3-2) and Delaware State (3-0).
 
Junior Kauany Gutz leads Dartmouth's offense with 106 kills and has recorded 13 blocks.  

 Senior Emma Engstrom has a team-high 104 digs and is averaging 4.16 digs a set.  

 Sophomore Raeli Smith is currently leading Dartmouth in blocks, with 21.
 
SCOUTING SIENA… Siena enters the weekend with a 1-8 record. Last weekend the Saints hosted the Siena Saints Invitational, where they went 0-3, losing to Syracuse (0-3), Idaho (1-3) and NJIT (0-3).
 
Senior Sara Wagner has a team-high 106 kills and 70 digs.
 
Redshirt Senior Sina Toroslu leads Siena with 22 blocks and 15 aces.
 
Senior Olga Sawinska has registered 64 kills and 16 blocks.
 
SCOUTING QUINNIPIAC… Quinnipiac enters the tournament with a 3-7 record. The Bobcats recently played in the George Mason Invitational, where they defeated Navy (3-2) and George Mason (3-0) and fell to Old Dominion (1-3).
 
Graduate Student Elena Giacomini leads the team with 137 kills, 17 blocks and 13 aces.
 
Senior Fa'avae Kimsel Moe leads the Bobcats with 126 digs averaging 3.15 a set.
 
Sophomore Leilana-kai Guista has registered 100 kills, 77 digs, eight blocks and nine aces for the Bobcats.

WHATS NEXT… The Friars are set to open BIG EAST play in Omaha, Neb., where they will face No. 9 Creighton Friday, September 27 at 7:00 p.m. (ET). On Sunday, September 29 the Friars will travel to Milwaukee, Wis., where they will face Marquette at 2:00p.m. (ET).
