Providence will open BIG EAST Conference play on Sept. 26 against St. John’s at Anderson Stadium.

PROVIDENCER.I.- The Providence College women's soccer team was defeated by the Columbia Lions, 4-0, on Friday, September 20 at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium in New York, N.Y. The Friars moved to 3-4-1 in regular-season play, while Columbia improved to 2-3-3 overall.

GAME FLOW AND NOTES    

- Sophia Cavaliere scored the first goal of the match on a penalty kick for Columbia. She beat the keeper on a low ball to the right side of the net.  

- Charlyse Berry scored for the Lions with a low shot into the right side of the net. Nata Ramirez was credited with the assist.  

- Ramirez added a goal of her own, assisted by Sam Cohn, to make it a 3-0 game at 66:18. 

- Just under two minutes later, Angel Akanyirige scored for Columbia to extend the lead (4-0). Her goal was assisted by Maia Tabion.
