PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College field hockey team defeated Dartmouth, 4-2, in non-conference action at Lennon Family Field on Thursday, Sept. 12. The Friars improved to 3-2 on the season, while Dartmouth dropped to 0-3 on the year. Bo Martina scored a career-high five points on two goals and one assist. It marked the first multi-goal game of her career as a Friar.
GAME FLOW:
• Martina scored two goals in the second quarter and Caroline Krebs converted a penalty-stroke opportunity to take a 3-1 lead at halftime.
• Martina tallied the opening goal at the 17:28 mark off a feed from Macie Pennisi during a penalty corner.
• Lucia Campano tied the game for Dartmouth, 1-1, at the 21:20 mark as she received a feed from Gabriela Braceras on the doorstep of the cage.
• Krebs scored her penalty stroke goal at 27:11, after Bella DelNegro was taken down inside the circle.
• Martina got her second goal of the day just 27-seconds later (27:38) off a pass from Charlotte Lorden.
• Pennisi gave the Friars a 4-1 lead at 35:46 as converted a drag flick during a penalty corner, assisted by Martina and Lorden.
• Dartmouth found the back of the cage at 51:31 to make it a 4-2 game. Braceras was credited with the goal and Riley Dumigan earned the assist.
NOTES:
• Martina recorded the first multi-goal game of her career and finished the day with a career-high five points (2g / 1a).
• Lorden's assist on Martina's goal in the third quarter, marked the first of her career.
• Krebs penalty stroke goal marked the first tally of her career.
• Pennisi's goal marked her first of the season and third of her career.
• The Friars led in shots (12-7) and shots on goal (10-7).
• Dartmouth held the advantage in penalty corners, 7-5. Five of the Big Green's corners came during the fourth quarter.
• Asia Porter finished the game with three saves in goal for Providence.
