Kacey Lawrence scored the lone goal for Providence on Thursday night.
PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College women's soccer team shut out the University of Rhode Island Rams, 1-0, in its season opener on Thursday, August 15 on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium in Providence, R.I. The Friars are now 1-0 in regular season play.

GAME FLOW AND NOTES
- Kacey Lawrence (Monroe, Conn.) scored her first goal of the season to give the Friars a 1-0 lead. Her goal was assisted by Gillian Kenny (Hanover, Mass.) and Kayla Briggs (Toronto, Ontario). This marks Lawrence's first goal as a Friar.
- The Friars remain unbeaten (6-0-1) in their last seven season openers dating back to 2018.
- Ellie Thallman made her first appearance in net for the Friars, playing the final 45 minutes with Emma Bodmer earning the start.
