Men’s And Women’s Track Teams Compete At Brown Invitational

Two school records were set.

PROVIDENCE, R.I.– The Providence College men's and women's track teams competed at the Brown Invitational today, April 28 in Providence, R.I. Two school records were set. 
 
Brett Lehman (Lower Gwynedd, Pa.) beat his own school record in the 400 meters with a time of 47.27 for first place. 
 
Tyler Bartlett (Fairfield, Conn.) took first in the 1,500 meters in a time of 3:53.23. Nick Cassarino (Durham, Conn.) followed in third (3:57.41). 
 
Will Johnston (Auckland, New Zealand) claimed first in the 800 meters with a time of 1:54.85. Aidan Higley (Wilmington, Del.) ran a 1:57.29 to place fourth. 
 
Nik Ventura (Jamison, Pa.) won the triple jump with a with a mark of 12.62 meters. 
 
Nicole Borowiec (Denville, N.J.) placed second in the 100-meter hurdles in a school record time of 14.20. Borowiec also set a personal record in the 100 meters of 12.50 for second place. 
 
The Friar women claimed the top-five places in the 1,500 meters. Kiera Hall (Christchurch, New Zealand) placed first in a personal record time of 4:29.61. Claire Kelly (Cornwall on Hudson, N.Y.) finished second (4:37.87) followed by Olivia Belt (Cumberland, R.I.) in third (4:45.35), Shea Podbelski (Norton, Mass.) in fourth (4:51.18) and Emily DiSarno (Westfield, N.J.) in fifth with a personal record (4:53.38). 
 
Halle Atkinson (Franklin, Mass.) and Polly Bogdan (Rochester, N.Y.) went one-two in the 800 meters. Atkinson ran a 2:10.35 for first and Bogdan finished second in 2:15.99. 
 
The women's 4x100 team of Charlotte Cousins (Madbury, N.H.), Jenna Jacobs (Jefferson, N.Y.), Cate Parks (Marion, Mass.) and Ava Russell (Babylon, N.Y.) placed second in a time of 49.65. 
 
In the 400 meters, Maggie Kemper (Huntington, N.Y.) and Elena Cabral (Somerset, Mass.) placed second (59.06) and third (59.33), respectively. Both performances marked personal records. 
 
Jacobs ran a 26.27 in the 200 meters for second place. Russell followed in third with a personal record of 26.73. 
 
UP NEXT

The Friars will compete at the BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Villanova, Pa. on May 9-11.
