Men’s and Women’s Track Teams Compete In First Day Of Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.– The Providence College men's and women's track teams competed in the first day of Penn Relays on Thursday, April 26 at Franklin Field on the University of Pennsylvania campus in Philadelphia, Pa.
Patrick Thygesen (Brisbane, Australia) placed third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:37.32.
On the women's side, Lilly Tuck (Sunderland, Canada) and Laura Mooney (Cappincur, Ireland) competed in the 5,000 meters. Tuck finished in fourth with a time of 15:53.76, followed by Mooney in 15:59.23 for 11th place. Both performances marked personal records.
Cara Laverty (Derry, Ireland) finished eighth in the 1,500 meters with a personal record time of 4:16.72.
The Friars return for the second day of competition tomorrow, April 25 with the Women's Distance Medley Championship of America at 2:25 p.m.
