ORONO, Maine – The No. 10/13 Providence College men's hockey team was outlasted by No. 7 Maine, 2-1, at Alfond Arena on Friday night (Feb. 9).

NOTES

- Both teams came up empty on their lone power-play opportunity in the first period.

- Maine held a 11-7 advantage in shots through the opening 20 minutes.

- The Black Bears took a 1-0 lead on the power play at 4:49 of the second period on a Josh Nadeau goal.

- Freshman Anthony Calafiore extended the Maine lead to 2-0 at 10:28 for his first career goal.

- After a string of successful shifts in the offensive zone, the Friars finally broke through on Luke Krys' fifth goal of the year to cut the deficit to 2-1 at 12:49. Craig Needham and Liam Valente earned the assists.

- Providence sustained the pressure throughout the third period, outshooting the Black Bears by a 11-5 margin but couldn't find the equalizer.

- The best looks of the period came when Krys rang a shot of the post from the point and freshman Tanner Adams, who was denied on a breakaway by Boija.

- The Friars have now lost five-consecutive games at Alfond Arena dating back to 2019.
