Scouting the Friars
Providence heads into the series with a 6-6-2 overall record and a 3-5-2 mark in Hockey East play.

Last weekend, the Friars earned three points with back-to-back ties against the University of Vermont at Schneider Arena. On Friday, Reichen Kirchmair (Oakville, Ontario) scored the lone goal in a 1-1 regulation tie before Kirchmair and Audrey Knapp (Stevens Point, Wis.) secured the shootout win, 2-1. Goalie Hope Walinski (Lincoln, R.I.) made 22 saves in the effort.

Saturday's rematch ended in a 0-0 stalemate, with Vermont taking the shootout point, 1-0. Walinski recorded 20 saves in the shutout, marking her second shutout this season and the eighth of her career. It marked Providence's first scoreless tie since Feb. 8, 2012, against Northeastern, when Genevieve Lacasse made 42 saves.

Friars Shine in Hockey East Scoring Race
Reichen Kirchmair leads Hockey East in overall scoring this season. She is tied for first with 14 points through 14 games on six goals and eight assists and averages 1.0 point per game.

The Friars boast three additional skaters in the top 10 for overall points. Audrey Knapp is tied for fifth with 12 points, on seven goals and five assists. Hannah Johnson (Readfield, Maine) and Millie Sirum (Oslo, Norway) are tied for ninth, each with 11 points. Johnson has contributed four goals and seven assists, while Sirum has netted six goals and added five assists.

In conference play, Kirchmair and Sirum are tied for third in scoring with nine points each across 10 Hockey East games.

Goals to Start the Season
Providence scored six-or-more goals in both games against Saint Michael's to start the season. The last time the Friars recorded six-or-more goals in back-to-back games was Sep. 29, 2017 (at Union, 7-3) and Oct. 1, 2017 (vs. Vermont, 6-2).

Returning for the Friars
The Friars return forward Audrey Knapp (Stevens Point, Wis.) who made the Hockey East Pro Ambitions All-Rookie Team after recording 14 goals and four assists for 18 points in her freshman season. Reichen Kirchmair (Oakville, Ontario) also returns to the lineup. Kirchmair posted 11 goals and five assists for 16 points last season.

Providence returns top defensemen Brooke Becker (Orchard Park, N.Y.) and Cristina Cavaliere (Mississauga, Ontario). Becker totaled five goals, 11 assists and 25 blocks and was named All-Hockey East Third Team honors. Cavaliere recorded one goal, 11 assists and 30 blocked shots.

Hockey East Preseason Poll
