PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College volleyball was defeated by Seton Hall in five sets (3-2) in their BIG EAST home opener. The Friars even their record at 7-7 overall (0-3 BIG EAST), while Seton Hall improved to 7-7 (1-2 BIG EAST).
FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS: Seton Hall earned a 25-20 victory in the first set.
· The two teams went back-and-forth to reach a tie score of 11-11.
· The Friars used a 5-3 scoring edge to take a 16-14 advantage.
· The two teams were tied, 20-20, in the late stages of the match.
· The Pirates close out the set with a 5-0 scoring run (25-20).
SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS: Providence won the second set, 25-21.
· Seton Hall jumped out to a quick 7-1 lead and forced a Providence timeout.
· The Friars responded with a 9-3 run to tie the set 10-10.

Sophia Adkins recorded a kill to give the Friars a 12-11 advantage.
· Providence extended its lead to 17-13.
· The Friars maintained held on to win the set, 25-21.
THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS: Providence took the third set, 25-22.
· Providence got out to a 4-2 advantage.
· The Friars maintained their lead through the middle of the set (14-11).
· Seton Hall fought back to narrow Providence's lead to 17-16.
· Providence held onto its lead to win the set, 25-22.

Shaliyah Rhoden led the Friars with 12 kills through the first three sets.
FOURTH SET HIGHLIGHTS: The Pirates won the fourth set, 25-21

· Seton Hall jumped out to a quick 5-1 lead and forced a Providence timeout.
· Rhoden recorded a block to cut the Pirates lead to 8-4.
· The Pirates used a 6-1 run to take an 14-5 advantage.
· Seton Hall extended its lead to 20-10.
· Providence went on an 8-0 run to close the gap to 20-18.
· The Pirates maintained their lead and won the set 25-21.

Addy Frye recorded three aces in the fourth set.
FIFTH SET HIGHLIGHTS: Seton Hall won the fifth set, 25-19 to win the match, 3-2.
· The two teams went back-and-forth to reach a tie score of 5-5.
· Seton Hall went on a 4-0 run to take an 9-5 lead.
· The Friars narrowed the Pirates lead to 13-12.
· The Pirates maintain their lead to win the set 15-12 and the match 3-2.
