PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College's Philip Svedebäck (Vaxjo, Sweden) and
Zachary Borgiel (Fort Gratiot, Mich.) were named as Stop It Goaltending's Hockey East Co-Goaltenders of the Week on Monday, October 21. The tandem combined to stop 58-of-60 shots in the two-game sweep over Arizona State last weekend.
On Friday, Svedebäck turned away 27-of-28 Sun Devil shots, good for a .964 save percentage. He now has earned Hockey East Goaltender of the Week accolades for the fourth time in his career at Providence College. Borgiel, in his Friar debut on Saturday, stopped 31-of-32 Arizona State shots (.969 save percentage) and held a shutout for the first 59:24 of action. He earns his third-career Hockey East Goaltender of the Week honor after earning it twice during the 2022-23 season with Merrimack.
The No. 13 Friars travel to Burlington, Vermont this upcoming weekend for a two-game series against the Vermont Catamounts beginning Friday night (7 PM) at Gutterson Fieldhouse.
