Women's Hoops Defeats Butler At Hinkle Fieldhouse, 63-53

Olivia Olsen recorded her league-best eighth double-double on 16 points and 13 boards.
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – The Providence College women's basketball team defeated Butler, 63-53, on Jan. 21 at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind. The Friars improved to 9-11 overall (3-4 BIG EAST), while the Bulldogs dropped to 8-10 (0-7 BIG EAST).
1ST QUARTER:
• Providence held a 7-6 lead at the first media timeout (4:53).
• Providence held Butler scoreless for 4:05 to close the quarter.
• The Friars went on a 7-0 run in the final 2:58 of the frame to claim a 14-8 advantage.
• Brynn Farrell paced the offense in the opening 10 minutes with seven points
2ND QUARTER:
• Butler opened the quarter with a baseline three-pointer, but Grace Efosa responded for the Friars with back-to-back buckets (18-11).
• Providence mounted a 10-point lead with the help of a 6-0 run and forced a Butler timeout with 6:34 on the clock (24-14).
• The Friars outscored Butler 17-2 over the final 7:52 to take a 35-16 lead into halftime.
• Providence shot 64.3-percent in the second quarter (9-14), while holding Butler to 14.3-percent (2-14).
• Marta Morales Romero led the Friars with eight points at halftime, including five in the second quarter.
3RD QUARTER:
• Butler cut the deficit to 10 at the 5:57 mark and forced a Providence timeout after starting the third with a 13-4 scoring advantage (39-29).
• The Bulldogs inched within single digits with 3:02 on the clock as the Friars were mired in a four-minute scoring drought.
• Efosa converted a traditional-three-point play with 1:02 on the clock to help Providence regain a 10-point edge (44-34).
• The Friars carried a 44-35 lead into the fourth quarter.
4TH QUARTER:
• Butler cut the Friars' lead to six with 6:12 to play, but Providence responded with a 4-0 run to get it back to double figures (54-44).
• Providence held a 58-48 lead with 1:00 to play in the game.
• The Friars were 4-6 from the foul line in the final 42-seconds to seal the win (63-53).
NOTES:
• Olivia Olsen recorded her league-best eighth double-double of the season. She tallied 16 points and matched her career high in rebounds (13) and assists (three).
• Efosa and Farrell each finished the game with 12 points.
• Providence out-rebounded Butler, 37-33, and dominated the paints with a 32-12 scoring advantage.
