PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's hockey team will travel to Worcester, Mass. on Friday, Jan. 19 to face Holy Cross for a 6:00 p.m. puck drop before hosting the Crusaders on Saturday, Jan. 20 at Schneider Arena at 2:00 p.m. Throughout Saturday's game returning alumni and key moments in program history will be recognized to celebrate 50 years of Schneider Arena.
Scouting the Friars
The Friars are currently 8-14-1 and 7-8-1 in Hockey East play. Last weekend, the Friars swept Vermont in an away series. On Friday, Jan. 12, Providence shut out the Catamounts, 6-0. The Friars then pulled a 4-3 overtime win on Saturday, Jan. 13.
Hope Walinski (Lincoln, R.I.) finished the weekend with 33 saves.
Lindsay Bochna (Toronto, Ontario) and
Rachel Weiss (Calgary, Alberta) led the team with five recorded points over two games. Bochna and Weiss each scored one goal and two assists on Friday. On Saturday, Weiss tallied two assists, while Bochna had one assist and scored the game winning goal in overtime.
Hockey East Preseason Poll
The Friars were picked to finish third in the Hockey East Preseason Poll, which was released on Tuesday, Sept. 12. The Friars, who received 74 points, were picked to finish behind Northeastern (88) and Vermont (75). The Huskies, who won the 2023 Hockey East Tournament, received eight first place votes.
Rounding out the poll was UConn (65), Boston University (59), Boston College (58), Maine (38), New Hampshire (35), Merrimack (28) and Holy Cross (20).
Fresh Friar Faces
Providence welcomes nine new players (two transfers and six freshmen) to the roster for the 2023-24 season.
Grace Shirley (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) is a graduate student from University of Wisconsin and
Hannah Johnson (Readfield, Maine) a junior from Syracuse University. The six freshmen are

Hockey East Award Winners
Audrey Knapp was named Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week as announced on Oct. 23 for scoring three goals in two games.
Knapp earned Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week on Nov. 27 for scoring the lone goal and game-winner against Brown University.
Reichen Kirchmair (Oakville, Ontario) earned Hockey East Co-Player of the Week on Dec. 11 for recording four points on Dec. 8 against New Hampshire and scoring the Friars' lone goal against Boston University on Dec. 9.
Brooke Becker (Orchard Park, N.Y.) earned Hockey East Player of the Week on. Jan. 15 for recording two goals on Saturday, Jan. 13. Becker's second goal on Saturday sent Providence into overtime against Vermont, where they went on to win 4-3.
Scouting the Crusaders
Holy Cross enters the weekend matchup at 5-14-2 (2-11-2 HEAW). The Crusaders' last weekend matchup was against Boston College and Merrimack. On Friday, Jan. 12, Boston College shutout Holy Cross 5-0. The Crusaders faced another shutout loss on Saturday, Jan. 13 against Merrimack, 2-0.
Who to Watch
Millie Sirum leads the Crusaders with 15 points consisting of seven goals and eight assists. Alexia Moreau follows with six goals and eight assists for 14 points.
Goaltender Madison Beck has started between the pipes in 13 games. Beck has recorded 344 saves this season for a .920 save percentage and a 2.37 GAA.
All-Time Series with the Crusaders
Providence currently leads the all-time series record against Holy Cross 16-0-0. The Friars last faced Holy Cross in Feb. 2023. Providence defeated Holy Cross 3-1.
