Brynn Farrell netted 12 points; Olivia Olsen hauled in a career-best 13 rebounds.

HARTFORD, CONN. – The Providence College women's basketball team fell to No. 13 Connecticut 85-41 on Jan. 10 at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn. The Friars dropped to 8-9 on the year and evened their record in the BIG EAST at 2-2. Connecticut improved to 13-3 (5-0 BIG EAST).
 
1ST QUARTER:
• UConn started the game on a 10-0 run, forcing a Providence timeout with 7:54 on the clock in the first. 
Brynn Farrell hit a triple at the 7:13 mark to get the Friars on the board (10-3).
• UConn used a 14-1 run over the next 3:52 to take a 24-4 advantage with 2:02 to play.
• The Huskies led 27-8 after the opening 10 minutes.
• The Friars committed 13 turnovers in the first quarter and UConn converted them into 16 points.
 
2ND QUARTER:
• The Friars trailed 37-15 at the media timeout (4:05).
• Freshman Sophi Hall scored five of the Friars' seven points in the opening 5:55 of the quarter.
• UConn outscored Providence 15-11 in the quarter and took a 42-19 lead into halftime.
• Providence held a 27-19 advantage on the glass in the first half.
 
3RD QUARTER:
Olivia Olsen reached double digits in the rebounding column with 4:46 left in the third quarter. 
• UConn led 61-30 at the media timeout and used a 14-2 run over the final 3:40 of the quarter to claim a 73-32 advantage.
• Farrell scored the Friars' lone points from the free-throw line during that stretch.
 
4TH QUARTER:
• The Huskies outscored Providence 10-4 heading into the final media timeout to take an 83-36 lead with 3:31 to play.
• UConn defeated the Friars 85-41.
 
NOTES:
• Farrell was the lone Friar in double figures with 12 points and added six rebounds.
• Olsen matched her career-high with 13 rebounds, to lead all players on the glass. She added six points on the night.
Grace Efosa, who missed the previous 11 games with an injury, returned to the court for the first time. She finished with eight points, six rebounds and two assists.
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
• The Friars return to action on Sunday, Jan 14 against No. 22/21 Creighton. The game will be played at D.J. Sokol Arena in Omaha, Neb. and is scheduled to tip-off at 2:00 p.m. (ET).
