KINGSTON, R.I.- The Providence College men's soccer team pulled out a last-minute, 2-1 win over the University of Rhode Island on Monday, September 4 in Kingston, R.I. Brendan McSorley (Randolph, N.J.) and Cole Dewhurst (Lancaster, Mass.) scored for the Friars.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
-Lukas Burns (Cinnaminson, N.J.) made a clutch save in 25th minute, shutting down Íñigo Etxegarai's break-away shot.
- McSorley took a shot to the low left corner off a deflection, saved by Edu Rodriguez in the 35th minute.
-Gevork Diarbian (Cranston, R.I.) and McSorley took all the shots for the Friars in the first half, each recording two.
-Sam Montalto (Stonington, Conn.), Owen VanMarter (Hilton Head Island, S.C.), and Sam Biven (Atlanta, Ga.), all made their season debut.
- Dewhurst scored his first goal of the season in the 63rd minute, breaking the Rams' six-game shutout streak.
-Mathias Taylor scored the equalizer for URI with a diving header in the 80th minute.
-Providence sealed the game after Pearse O'Brien's corner was headed in by Brendan McSorley with just 1:06 left in the game. It was O'Brien's second assist this week.
