Men’s Soccer To Host DePaul In BIG EAST Match

The Friars will face the Blue Demons in a homecoming weekend game.

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Providence men's soccer will welcome DePaul University on Sept. 29 at 7:00 p.m. on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. The Friars are looking to earn their third home win of the season.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS
• On Sept. 23, the Friars lost to Villanova, 4-3, in the BIG EAST opener.
• Freshman Pearse O'Brien (West Hartford, Conn.) is tied for first in the BIG EAST Conference in assists (four). On Sept. 1, O'Brien was named BIG EAST Freshman of the week following his first career goal in the Friars' game against Hofstra. On Monday, Sept. 4, he assisted Brendan McSorley's (Randolph, N.J.) game-winning goal with 1:06 left in the contest, leading PC to a 2-1 win at URI.
Nathan Messer (London, England) is tied for first in the BIG EAST Conference-only rankings in points (five), points per game (five), and goals (two).
Brendan McSorley and Pearse O'Brien lead the team in points, each totaling eight on the season.
• McSorley leads the team in goals with eight in overall games this season.
• Goalkeeper Lukas Burns currently has one shutout and 23 saves in eight games for the Friars.
• On Sept. 18, Gevork Diarbian (Cranston, R.I.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll following his one-touch finish in the 31st minute to help the Friars tie, 3-3 vs. No.3 Akron on the road.

• DePaul goalkeeper, Gandhi Cruz, leads the BIG EAST in saves (45). He is currently ranked second in saves per game (5.62).
• Christian Baumgartner leads the Blue Demons in overall points (three).
• DePaul is looking to earn its first win after going without a victory since the season opener.
• Noeh Hernandez leads the team in shots (15).
