The Friars will travel to Charlottesville, Va. for the University of Virginia Invitational.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the University of Virginia Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 23. The race will be held at the Panorama Farms Cross Country Course. The men's 8k race will start at 8:45 a.m., followed by the women's 5k race at 9:30 a.m.
The Friar women enter the race ranked 14th nationally and first in the Northeast Region. The men's team comes in ranked fifth in the Northeast Region. The women's race features nine teams ranked in the top-15 in the latest national poll and the men's race has eight teams ranked in the top-15 nationally.
Leading the pack for the women will be junior Kimberley May (Auckland, New Zealand). May finished the Friar Invitational in first place with a time of 13:56.2, leading the Friar women to place first overall.
Junior Abdel Laadjel (Lucan, Ireland) will lead the Friar men at the line. Laadjel finished first at the Friar Invitational in a time of 18:03.6 to lead the Friars to a second-place finish.
For their performance, Laadjel and May earned BIG EAST Male and Female Athlete of the Week.
