WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Providence College women's basketball team trailed by 21 points in the fourth, and managed to get within two before eventually falling to Georgetown, 71-64, on Feb. 21 in Washington, D.C.
Nariah Scott scored 10 of her career-high 20 points in the fourth quarter rally.
1ST QUARTER:
• The Hoyas used a 9-0 run during a span of 1:23 to gain a 13-6 lead and force a Providence timeout with 5:09 on the clock.
• The Hoyas extended their run to 13-0 until
Janai Crooms got Providence back on the board at the 3:04 mark (17-8).
• Providence chipped away at the 11-point deficit to get within 22-15 at the intermission.
2ND QUARTER:
•
Emily Archibald opened the second quarter with back-to-back three point buckets to help the Friars regain the lead (25-24) and force a Georgetown timeout with 7:44 on the clock.
• Providence was 3-3 from beyond the arc and 1-2 from the free throw line during the offensive spurt.
• The Hoyas outscored Providence 19-4 over the final 7:26 of the quarter to take a 43-29 lead into halftime.
• Archibald and Scott each scored seven points for the Friars in the first half.
• Three Hoyas cracked double figures, led by Kelsey Ransom's 14 points.
3RD QUARTER:
•
Kylee Sheppard opened the quarter with a three, but Georgetown responded with a 10-2 run and took a 53-34 into the media timeout (4:22).
• Georgetown outscored Providence 13-12 in the third quarter overall and held a 56-41 lead heading into the fourth.
4TH QUARTER:
• Kristina Moore hit back-to-back threes to give Georgetown a 21-point lead through the first 1:12 of the fourth (62-41).
• A late 23-5 run by the Friars made it a two-point game (71-69) with 12-seconds left.
• Ransom hit a pair of free throws for Georgetown with 11-seconds left to make it a two-possession game and claim a 73-69 win.
NOTES:
• Scott scored a career-high 20 points, including 10 points in the fourth quarter. She shot 7-12 from the field, including 3-6 from beyond the arc.
• Scott reached double figures in the scoring column for the sixth time in the last seven games, marking the first double-digit games of her career.
• Crooms finished with 14 points and a team-best seven rebounds and five assists.
• Archibald added nine points and team-high two steals.
• The teams were even on the glass, 27-27.
• Georgetown took advantage on the scoreboard with a 20-8 advantage in points off turnovers.
• Ransom finished with 19 for Georgetown to lead four players in double figures.

• Providence will travel to No. 15 Villanova on Friday, Feb. 24 to take on the Wildcats at Finneran Pavilion (7:00 p.m.).
