PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The No.13 Friars will face Boston College in a home-and-home series to close out regular season play. On Friday, Feb. 17 the Friars will host the Eagles at Schneider Arena as they celebrate their graduating seniors. On Saturday, Feb. 18 the Friars will then travel to Chestnut Hill, Mass. Both games will begin at 2:00 p.m.
The Friars have clinched home ice advantage for the quarterfinals of Hockey East playoffs, which will be played on Saturday, Feb. 25 at Schneider Arena. Depending on this weekend's play, the Friars could finish as high as second or as low as fourth in Hockey East standings.
Scouting the Friars
The Friars are currently 19-9-4 overall and 14-7-4 in Hockey East play. The Friars are coming off a weekend matchup against Holy Cross. On Friday, Feb. 10 the Friars defeated Holy Cross, 3-1, at Schneider Arena.
Sandra Abstreiter (Freising, Germany) finished the game with 18 saves and currently holds a .928 save percentage with a 1.80 GAA this season.
Sara Hjalmarsson (Bankeryd, Sweden) led the Friars in total points with two goals.
Caroline Peterson (East Falmouth, Mass.) recorded the Friars' second goal of the game.
Noemi Neubauerova (Prague, Czech Republic),
Lily Martinson (Allen, Texas), and
Rachel Weiss (Calgary, Alberta) each tallied an assist.
The Friars' 19 victories are the most since the 2018-19 campaign. That year, Providence finished the season with a 24-11-2 overall record.

Hockey East Award Winners
Sara Hjalmarsson was named Hockey East Co-Player of the Week as announced on Jan. 30 for recording her fourth career hat trick on Jan. 27 against the University of New Hampshire.
Claire Tyo was named Hockey East Defender of the Week as announced on Dec. 12 for tallying three assists in a single game on Dec. 10.
Sara Hjalmarsson was named Hockey East Player of the Week as announced on Nov. 21. Hjalmarsson was recognized for having a four-goal game against Maine on Nov. 19.
Abstreiter was named Hockey East Stop It Goaltender of the Week as announced on Nov. 21. Abstreiter was recognized for tallying her sixth shutout this season and 63 saves over the weekend.
Kirchmair was named Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Month as announced on Nov. 2. Kirchmair was recognized for leading the Friars in goals with seven and leading all of Hockey East in goals among freshman.
Kirchmair was named Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week as announced on Oct. 24. Kirchmair was recognized for earning two goals over the weekend. She has recorded seven goals and two assists across eight season games. She leads the Friars in goals and is second in points with nine.
Abstreiter was named Hockey East Goaltender of the Week as announced on Oct. 17. Abstreiter was recognized for another shutout weekend against Holy Cross. With a combined 25 saves she is the first goalie in program history to tally four-consecutive shutouts.
Abstreiter was named Hockey East Goaltender of the Week as announced on Oct. 10. Abstreiter was recognized after a shutout weekend over Union College and RPI, posting a combined 35 saves.
Hockey East Preseason Poll
The Friars were picked to finish fourth in the Hockey East Preseason Poll, which was released on Tuesday, Sept. 13. Providence received 61 points and was picked to finish behind Northeastern (90), Vermont (79) and Boston College (76). The Huskies, who won the 2022 Hockey East Tournament, received nine first place votes.

Scouting the Eagles
Boston College currently holds a 18-13-1 overall record with a 15-10-0 Hockey East record. The Eagles' last matchup was against No.5 Northeastern. On Tuesday, Feb. 14 the Eagles fell to the Huskies, 2-1. As a team, Boston College averages 30.3 shots per game and hold a .086 conversion rate on power plays with a 50.1 faceoff success percentage.
Who to Watch
Senior Hannah Bilka leads the Eagles in total points and assists with 35 and 23, respectively. Bilka also leads the team in shots with 125. Sophomore Abby Newhook leads the team in goals with 16.
Graduate student goaltender Abigail Levy has appeared in 26 games for the Eagles. Levy has recorded 14 wins and 813 saves for a .949 save percentage and a 1.69 GAA.
