PROVIDENCE, R.I.–The Providence College women's hockey team will host Boston College and Boston University this weekend at Schneider Arena in Providence, R.I. On Friday, Dec. 1 the Friars will face Boston College at 6:00 p.m. before facing Boston University on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 3:00 p.m.
Scouting The Friars
The Friars are currently 5-10-0 and 4-6-0 in Hockey East play. Most recently, the Friars played a mid-week matchup against Northeastern University. On Tuesday Nov. 28, Providence lost 4-2 to the Huskies.
Hope Walinski (Lincoln, R.I.) recorded 27 saves.
Reichen Kirchmair (Oakville, Ontario) and Lily Martinson (Allen, Texas) were the goal scorers for Providence, while Mégane Quirion (Saint Eustache, Quebec) led in points with two assists.
Hockey East Preseason Poll
The Friars were picked to finish third in the Hockey East Preseason Poll, which was released on Tuesday, Sept. 12. The Friars, who received 74 points, were picked to finish behind Northeastern (88) and Vermont (75). The Huskies, who won the 2023 Hockey East Tournament, received eight first place votes.
Rounding out the poll was UConn (65), Boston University (59), Boston College (58), Maine (38), New Hampshire (35), Merrimack (28) and Holy Cross (20).
Fresh Friar Faces
Providence welcomes nine new players (two transfers and six freshmen) to the roster for the 2023-24 season.

Hockey East Award Winners
Audrey Knapp was named Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week as announced on Oct. 23 for scoring three goals in two games.
Knapp earned Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week on Nov. 27 for scoring the lone goal and game-winner against Brown University.
Scouting the Eagles
The Eagles enter the Friday night matchup at 8-7-1 (8-3-1 HEAW). This past weekend, Northeastern defeated Boston College, 3-1, on Saturday, Nov. 25.
Who to Watch
Four skaters lead the Eagles with 12 points. Abby Newhook has seven goals and five assists. Julia Pellerin has recorded six goals and six assists. Sammy Smigliani has tallied five goals and seven assists and Sammy Taber holds three goals and nine assists.
Goaltender Grace Campbell has started between the pipes in 16 games. Campbell has recorded 436 saves this season for a .910 save percentage and a 2.76 GAA.
All-Time Series with the Eagles
Providence currently leads the all-time series record against Boston College 57-44-3. The last time the Friars faced off against the Eagles was at the end of the 2022-23 regular season. The teams split the weekend series with Boston College winning 5-2 on Feb. 17 and Providence winning 3-0 on Feb. 18.
Scouting the Terriers
Boston University enters Saturday's game at 6-7-1 (4-5-0 HEAW). This past weekend, the Terriers beat Robert Morris, 3-1, on Friday, Nov. 24. The Terriers then lost to Minnesota State, 7-2, on Sunday, Nov. 26.
Who to Watch
Lacy Martin leads the Terriers with 15 points consisting of seven goals and eight assists. Catherine Foulem follows with six goals and three assists for nine points.
Goaltenders Alexa Matses and Mari Pietersen have split time between the pipes this season. Matses has recorded 174 saves this season for a .897 save percentage and a 2.67 GAA in nine games played. Pietersen has tallied 108 saves for a .844 save percentage and a 3.12 GAA.

Providence currently leads the all-time series record against Boston University 36-30-5. The last time the teams faced off was on Nov.18 when Providence beat the Terriers, 2-1.
