Last Time Out…
- The Friars are coming off a pair of losses to conference opponent No. 15 Massachusetts (8-3-1, 4-2-1 HEA), dropping the first contest 3-2 on Thursday at home and falling in overtime 2-1 on Saturday in Amherst.
- Defenseman Luke Krys opened the scoring in Thursday's affair for the Friars, beating Massachusetts' Michael Hrabal top shelf to give Providence the 1-0 lead midway through the first frame.
- Just over ten minutes into the second period, the Minutemen responded off the stick of forward Cam O'Neill, deadlocking the match at 1-1.
- Late in the second period, Chase Yoder put the Friars back on top, converting off a feed from Nick Poisson and Jaroslav Chmelar to give the senior his fifth goal of the year and the Friars the 2-1 advantage.
- The Minutemen found the equalizer just over seven minutes into the third period, as blueliner Ryan Ufko fired one through traffic, ringing the post before knotting the game at 2-2.
- With less than a minute to play, four Minutemen raced the length of the ice in a 4-on-1 attack, culminating in the game-winning goal from Lucas Mercuri and bringing about Thursday's final 3-2 decision.
- In Saturday's contest, neither team broke through in the first 20 minutes, keeping the score deadlocked at 0-0. The Friars carried a 14-7 shot advantage into the first intermission.
- The Friars offense put it together in the second period, as forward Graham Gamache tallied his first collegiate goal at the 8:28 mark, giving Providence the 1-0 advantage.
- Massachusetts' Jack Musa scored the tying goal late in the third period off a redirect from Lucas Vanroboys, knotting the game at 1-1.
- In the sudden death extra period, UMass' Ryan Ufko beat Philip Svedebäck to the post, winning it for the Minutemen, 2-1.

Leaman Hits Milestone
Head Coach Nate Leaman earned his 249th career victory at Providence on Nov. 11, passing Lou Lamoriello as the program's winningest head coach all-time. Leaman sits at 387 career victories as a Division I head coach.
 
Changing of the Guard
The Friars have appointed Cam McDonald and Chase Yoder as co-captains and Craig Needham and Nick Poisson as alternate captains for the 2023-24 season.
 
Lockdown Defense
Philip Svedebäck has been one of the top goaltenders this year, allowing an average of 1.86 goals per game, good for sixth-fewest among qualifying netminders this season. Svedebäck also boasts a .917 save percentage this season, tied for 22nd-best with North Dakota's Ludvig Persson.
 
Stock Watch
Through thirteen games played, Jaroslav Chmelar (5-8-13) paces the Friars with thirteen points on the season. Trailing him is Tanner Adams (4-7-11) with eleven points, followed by Chase Yoder (5-5-10) and Nick Poisson (3-7-10), who both have ten points registered on the 2023-24 campaign.

Arizona State has started both of their goaltenders this season, with a majority of starts going to sophomore netminder TJ Semptimphelter. In nine starts this year, Semptimphelter has posted a 7-2-0 record to go along with a 2.64 goals against average and a .905 save percentage. Sophomore goaltender Gibson Homer has posted a 2-0-1 record through three starts this season, alongside a 2.23 goals against average and a .911 save percentage.
- Arizona State is tied with three other schools for eighth-most goals in the NCAA this season with 43 scores registered. The Sun Devils also boast the fourth-best power-play unit this season, converting on 29.1% of extra attacker opportunities.

This weekend's matchup with Arizona State marks the second meeting all-time between the Sun Devils and Friars and the first since the 2017-18 season. The Friars boast a 1-0-0 all-time record against Arizona State, with their last meeting coming six seasons ago on Dec. 29, 2017, where the Friars emerged victorious in a 6-0 defeat of the Sun Devils in at the Three Rivers Classic in Pittsburgh.
